European Moto2 and European Talent Cup at Estoril (Portugal) – Day2

The new FIM CEV Repsol season got off to a great start this weekend at the Circuito do Estoril in Portugal with victories by Ivo Lopes (ENI-Motor7-Small Motorcycles) and Jesko Raffin (Swiss Innovative Investors Junior) in Moto2™, and Barry Baltus (Reale Avintia Academy) and Julián Giral (Talent Team Estrella Galicia 0.0) in the European Talent Cup. In Moto2™ Ivo Lopes took a shock win in the first race on his Superstock 600 Yamaha R6 when he crossed the finish line almost six seconds ahead of Augusto Fernández (Easyrace), and Jesko Raffin in third place. Xavier Cardelús (Team Stylobike), who set off second, went down the first time he touched the brakes and Ivo Lopes took over the race lead. European Moto2 and European Talent Cup at Estoril (Portugal) – Day1

In a day marked by wind and awkward track conditions Augusto Fernández (Easyrace) in Moto2 and Barry Baltus (Reale Avintia Academy) in the European Talent Cup earned their first poles in the FIM CEV Repsol and will lead off the starting grids of their respective categories after dominating the qualifying sessions of the first round of the season this weekend at the Circuito do Estoril. In Moto2™ Augusto Fernández (Easyrace), gained his first pole in the Moto2™ European Championship. The Easyrace team rider posted the best time of 1:44.466 in Q2 on the Suter to head the grid ahead of Xavier Cardelús (Team Stylobike) and Jesko Raffin (Swiss Innovative), who make up the first row. Local rider Ivo Lopes (Eni-Motor7-Pequeño Motos) takes fifth slot - and is also the top Superstock 600 rider - behind Marcel Brenner (H43 Team Nobby-Talasur) and ahead of Dimas Ekky ( Astra Honda Racing Team)

European Individual Ice Speedway Championship at Electron (Russia)

The city of Electron, in Russia, hosted the Final 1 and 2 of the European Individual Ice Speedway Championship. The event was held in front of around 5.000 spectators on each day, with sunny weather and temperatures around minus 25/20°C. The track conditions were perfect during the whole meeting thanks to the excellent job of the local club. There were some crashes during hard fight for points, but luckily with no injuries for the riders. The winner was Igor Kononov in front of Eduard Krysov and Nikita Bogdanov, all from Russia. European Yamaha R6 Cup powered by Bridgestone

In 2018, the Yamaha R6 Cup powered by Bridgestone will be a new part of the Alpe Adria International Motorcycle Championship which consists of the consolidation of in total eight motorcycle Federations: Italy, Austria, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia and Croatia. The series is made up of 6 race weekends with 2 heats each, which sums up to a total of 12 championship races at Slovakia-Ring (Slovakia), Autodrom Poznan (Poland), Pannonia-Ring (Hungary), Red Bull Ring (Austria), Autodrom Grobnik (Croatia) and at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben (Germany). Prior to the opening round at the Slovakia-Ring (4-6 May 2018) a testing session will be held at the same circuit the week before (1-2 May 2018) as official preparation for the season. During #LetsMakeSpeedway Gala in CKK Jordanki in Toruń, One Sport organization presented the Speedway Euro Championship 2018 calendar. The first round of SEC 2018 will take place in Gniezno. In the first Polish capital, 15 permanent motorcycle participants will start the fight for the Speedway Euro Championship podium. The season will end in another legendary city for Polish Speedway – Chorzów, on September 15th. Here, the competition on Śląski Stadium will be held for the first time in SEC history on a temporary track. The second SEC round will take place in Gustrow, on the shortest and the most technical track in the European Championship. The following stop for the riders starting in SEC will be in Daugavpils – hometown of current champion, Andrzejs Lebedevs. The SEC Challenge, where the biggest part of riders starting in the series will meet, will take place on May 5th in Italy. foto: Jarek

FIM Europe Mini Road Racing Championship 2018

The FIM Europe Road Racing Commission has established a Working Group (WG MRR) with the purpose of developing the European Championship series for Mini Road Racing and to promote Mini Road Racing in general in Europe. The purpose is to improve the quality of the Championship events and increase the number of participants. At the same time this will establish a strong foundation for the pyramid work on which the development of new talents for Road Racing sport is based. Part of the programme would also be to exchange ideas and best practices for the development of junior riders between the European FMNs. At a recent meeting with the FIM Europe CCR the Working Group proposed to organise one event in 2018. European Moto2, Talent Cup and Kawasaki Z Cup at Valencia (Spain) – Day 2

Eric Granado (Promoracing, photo1) and Manuel González (Halcourier Racing) were declared champions of the Moto2™ European Championship and the European Talent Cup respectively in the final round of the FIM CEV Repsol season, joining fellow champions Dennis Foggia (Junior Team VR46 Riders Academy) of the Moto3™ Junior World Championship and Raul Martínez (Motorbike Moya Competition) of the European Kawasaki Z Cup. Eric Granado (Promoracing) was crowned Moto2™ EC champion, winning the last race of the season and notching up his fifth win in a row at this circuit in the FIM CEV Repsol. The Promoracing rider started from pole position with a 16-point advantage over Ricky Cardús (Team Stylobike), who was hampered by a shoulder injury aggravated by a crash in the Moto2 World Championship just a week ago.
