Speedway Euro Championship at Güstrow (Germany)

The Final 2 of Speedway Euro Championship was held at Güstrow, in Germany. Around 5000 spectators witnessed one of the best speedway meetings in recent times - close racing, with an incredible amount of overtakes, with positions changing corner after corner, race after race. British Robert Lambert was victorious in the final heat to take the evening’s top spot, closely followed in second place by Danish Leon Madsen. The battle for third spot that was won by Mikkel Michelsen ahead of Emil Sayfutdinov. The event was held without incidents and injuries. European Superstock 1000 Championship at Misano (Italy)

Markus Reiterberger (Alpha Racing-Van Zon-BMW) rode to another spectacular win in the European Superstock 1000 Championship, increasing his championship lead to 14 points with just two rounds to go. The German was unstoppable from lights to flag at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, taking his fourth win of the campaign ahead of Maximilian Scheib (Aprilia Racing Team) and Riccardo Russo (Motocorsa Racing). As the lights went out it was a stunning start for Reiterberger as he looked as comfortable as always on his BMW machine, never looking back once he got away from the line. But his competitors were on the hunt for the podium, as Scheib kept one eye on the championship standings looking for second position. European Grass Track Championship Final at Tayac (France)

The European Individual Grass Track Championship Final was a very hard fought competition staged on an extremely hot evening at the Circuit Jacques Rossignol, at Tayac in the South of France. With each of the 20 riders competing in four qualifying heats, before earning their place in one of three Finals (C, B and A), racing was always going to be hard and fast on the 400 metre track. Unfortunately one of the pre meeting favourites – young Dutchman Romano Hummel – crashed in his first heat, and after receiving medical attention on the track, was then taken to hospital with a suspected broken leg. With the winner and second placed rider of the B Final being elevated into the main A Final, this race was always going to be one of the toughest of the evening. European U-19 Individual Speedway Cup – Final at Zarnovica (Slovakia)

The Polish national team won the first edition of the European U19 Pairs Cup. The historical gold went to Jakub Miśkowiak, Wiktor Trofimow and Szymon Szlauderbach. The European Cup Par U19 is a completely new event. The historic, first competition consisted only of the final tournament and seven teams competed in the race. Poles showed from the very start that they were the favourites. In the competition, they collected 26 points out of available 30 points in 21 heats. Denmark and Latvia were battling for 2nd and 3rd place the whole meeting long with Denmark having better finish with 23 points over Latvia with 21 points. European U-19 Individual Speedway Cup – Semi-Final 1 at Pardubice (Czech Republic)

In one of the warmest days of the year, some of the hottest young talents in Europe were on track in a sunbathed Pardubice in front of around 250 spectators for the SF1 of the Individual Speedway Cup. The track staff worked well to keep the race track in excellent conditions. The final placings were only decided in the last four, hard fought heats. The winner was Polish Szymon Szlauderbach, ahead of Danish Jonas Saifert-Salk and of Latvian Artjoms Trofimovs. A run-off between Jonas Saifert-Salk of Denmark and Artjoms Trofimovs of Latvia saw the riders swap places in the four laps until finally the Dane took the win. The next meeting will be on August 11th at Varkaus, in Finland.

European Individual Grass Track Final at Tayac (France) – Preview

James Shanes bids to write his own piece of track racing history in the European Grass Track Championship Final at Tayac, in the South of France, the next Saturday evening. The young rider, who lives near Poole on the South coast of England, will attempt a hat-trick of consecutive wins in this championship, a feat achieved previously only by Dutch Jannick De Jong, former World Champion. Only two other men – German Robert Barth and Stephan Katt – have three European crowns to their name, meaning Katt (who is also competing at Tayac), could be the first man to win four European crowns should he triumph in France on Saturday night. Two more contenders have won the title before - British Paul Hurry triumphed back in 2005, while the only previous French winner, Stephane Tressarrieu had his time in the spotlight three years later. European Pairs Speedway Championship at Nagyhalász (Hungary)

The meeting was run on a very well prepared track. The weather was sunny and windy, therefore more frequent watering was needed. Thanks to the excellent work of the club staff the track was held in a good condition. Approximately 2500 spectators watched an exciting meeting in a beautiful stadium with very good facilities. It was very tight racing among teams of similar level. The meeting was held in front of around 2500 spectators and saw the participation of 7 teams. After the first seven heats the score was very tight, three teams had only two points of difference. Then Latvia started to gain a margin and won the meeting followed by Germany and Ukraine. At the meeting and the prize giving ceremony Deputy Minister of Sport and former Olympic Champion in swimming dr.Szabó Tunde was present. European U21 Team Speedway Championship at Gniezno (Poland)

The meeting was run in front of around 500 spectators on a dry, hard track following dry, windy but sunny weather conditions. Thanks to the hard work of the club staff the dust was very well controlled throughout the meeting. The meeting was held with no major incidents or accidents. Only some minor crashes happened but without any serious injuries. During the first session of heats it was already clear that only the Russian team had a chance to challenge the Polish team for the win. But in the following sessions of heats Russia dropped to Poland point after point. In the end the Polish team claimed an undisputed victory with an almost perfect afternoon, collecting 54 points out of 60 during the 20 heats. The second place went to the Russian team scoring 41 points. Finland and Ukraine were only battling for 3rd and 4th place the whole meeting

European Talent Cup – a change in the technical rules

The FIM Europe has published a change in the ETC technical rules. The section of the European Talent Cup technical regulations that has been modified is: 5.6.9.4 Rear suspension unit: e. The total length of the shock absorber must remain between the limits recommended by the manufacturer for the homologated motorcycle. (Max length between mounting holes centers is 312 mm).
