Start of Superstreet Bike Cup in Santa Pod (Great Britain)

Friday and Saturday there were 2 good qualifications round each day, but with some track cleaning. The race started better than the forecast had pronounced, but unfortunately the rain came in at 12 o'clock just when the SSB class have their 1st round of the eliminations. There was no winner in this race, but UK rider G. Balchin made 40 points, which include a new European ET record in 7.1933 sec. So that made him the leader of the FIM Europe SSB Cup, after first round. Start of the Supermoto European Championship in Rivesaltes (France)

Season 2014 could not have had a better start for the European Supermoto Championship - Class SM2 than it had in Rivesaltes (France) this weekend! Thirty European riders gathered on "Grand Circuit du Roussillon" to compete against each other in the search of the win and ultimately the European Champion title. All spectators present were in for some exceptional racing, groups of five-six riders battling it out to the limit through-out the pack. Qualified in pole-position for the first time, Czech Milan Sitniansky (TM) could not yet resist the pressure of the first place and was passed by four riders right from the start of the race. First to lead was Italian Fabrizio Bartolini (Honda), followed by Dutch Devon Vermeulen (TM) and Finnish riders Asseri Kingelin (Aprilia) and Toni Klem (KTM). Start of the North-Western EMX65 and EMX85 in Korskro Banen (Denmark)

The first rounds of the North_Western leg of the EMX65 and EMX85 European Championships were held this weekend in Korskro Banen (Denmark) Holeshot of EMX65 heat 1 went to Matti Jorgensen, Denmark. Best starts and in leading positions after lap 1 have been Kay Karssemakers, NED, Rasmus Pedersen, DEN, 3rd Noel Nilsson, SWE, than Sem de Lange, NED, and Constantin Piller, GER. At the end of heat 1 the Danish Rasmus Pedersen won this first heat and hat overtaken the first position already in lap 3. Indeed the best rider in this heat! Silver/ 2nd place went to Karssemakers and Bronze/3rd position to Max Palsson, SWE, who was in the first lap only in 9th position! Holeshot went to Swedish Max Palsson in the heat 2. Best starts and in leading positions after lap 1 Palsson in front of Rasmus Pedersen and Noel Nilsson, then Constantin Piller, Varg and Hess.

EMX125, EMX250 and EMX300 in Sevlievo (Bulgaria)

The famous Bulgarian motocross track of Sevlievo was the host of the first round of the European Motocross Championship for classes EMX250 and EMX300 in 2014 season and the second round for class EMX125. As usual in Bulgaria the track was greatly prepared and all the riders were eager to race, only that the weather had something different in mind: Friday and early Saturday the rain came down on the track making it challenging. Nevertheless, riders gathered from all-over Europe put the hammer down and completed practices and qualifying despite the weather. First race of EMX125 saw Tomass Sileika (KTM) managing to get in front of Germen Brian Hsu (Suzuki) and of Dutch Davy Pootjes (KTM) trying to open up a gap. Road Racing Hill Climbing first round in Landshhag (Austria)

The first round of the Road Racing Hill Climb European Championship was held this weekend at Landshaag. The circuit in Upper Austria is once again the fastest course of the whole calendar. The weather conditions were typical for April: sunny and rainy alternating... But everything was well organised and both race heats were very interesting. Start of the 2014 EMX 125cc in Arco di Trento (Italy)

The first round of the EMX 125cc Motocross European Championship was held today in the Italian track of Arco di Trento. Slicing through the crisp air of Arco di Trento, forty young riders had their two-stroke 125cc machines singing as they went for gold at round one of the European EMX125 championship. Following in the footsteps of Dutch motocross hero FIM MX2 World Champion Jeffrey Herlings, another Dutch prodigy Red Bull KTM Racing’s Davy Pootjes proved to be on another level here in Arco di Trento, dominating both races to take his first perfect score of the season. In race one yesterday evening, Red Bull KTM Racing’s Davy Pootjes took the holeshot and went on to lead every lap unchallenged. Start of the 2014 EMX Quadcross in Oss (The Netherlands)

The 2014 Quadcross European Championship started this weekend in Oss (The Netherlands) with the participation of 27 riders. Both races were won by Dutch Mike Van Grinsven (W-Tec). In the overall standings, second position went to Dutch Joe Maessen (Suzuki), who arrived in second position on both heats. Third overall was Belgian Davy De Cuyper with two third positions. First round of RR Honda Junior Cup in Aragorn (Spain)

The first round of the Road Racing Honda Junior Cup was held today on the Aragorn Motorland track (Spain). Spanish domination with the first five riders coming from Spain. The podium saw in first position Marc Miralles, second position Javier Orellane and third Mika Perez. The race was very well fought with all riders in the first part of the race very close on each other. In the last 5 laps 8 riders switched positions until the final victory of Miralles. Start of the Road Racing Superstock 600cc EC in Aragorn (Spain)

The Superstock 600cc Road Racing European Championship started today at the Spanish track of Motorland Aragorn. The victory of this opening round went to Italian Marco Faccani (San Carlo Team Italia Kawasaki) with an impressive display of riding. A group of seven were in the fight for 2nd and 3rd, but at the flag Italian Andrea Tucci (San Carlo Team Italia Kawasaki) and Dutch Wayne Tessels (Wayne’s Racing Team) completed the podium after a thrilling 11 lap race at the very sunny MotorLand Aragon circuit in Spain. Addio “Enzo”! Passing away of Vincenzo Mazzi, FIM Europe President

European Motorcycling mourns for the death of Vincenzo Mazzi, FIM Europe President and one of the founding fathers of the Union Européenne de Motocyclisme (UEM), who passed away yesterday afternoon, 7th of April, in Rome. In almost 50 years dedicated to Motorcycling, the President Mazzi, "Enzo" for the many friends who had the honour to be near him, always hold a prominent role since his appointment as Secretary General of the Italian Motorcycle Federation in 1979, continuously for 20 years, until 1999. From those years he has dedicated each of his energies and all his determination to the European Motorcycling, participating to the foundation of the UEM in 1996, holding since the beginning the position of Secretary General until 2006, when he was elected UEM President for his first mandate.
