Jacob Douglas passed away

Svemo
FIM Europe sadly announces that Jacob Douglas, former President and Honorary President of the Swedish Motorcycle Federation (Svemo), passed away at the age of 91. Jacob Douglas was President of Svemo from 1977 to 2004, and was also UEM Vice President from 1996 to 2006. “For decades Jacob Douglas has been a highly respected person in Swedish Motorcycle sport”, Svemo comments . “His importance and influence in the development of the sport in Sweden were immense”. FIM Europe presented the International Advanced Course in Motorcycling Management

Today at the Council Chamber “Giulio Marinozzi” of the University of Studies of Rome “Foro Italico”, the International Advanced Course in Motorcycling Management, organized by the Foundation Foro Italico in collaboration with FIM Europe has been presented to a large media audience. The course is the second edition of a project of FIM Europe which kicked off last year with the intention of perfecting a format to make available to the European Motorcycle Federations and their respective Universities. On 9th September 2017 Andrzej Witkowski resigned from the post of the President of the Polish Automobile and Motorcycle Federation (PZM) and from the membership in the Board of PZM. The role of the President of PZM was taken over by the previous Vice-President Michał Sikora. By the decision of the Board of PZM Andrzej Witkowski became the Honorary President of PZM. International Classic GP Cup at Rijeka (Croatia)

The fourth round of the ICGP Championship took place at the Grobnik circuit in Croatia. Free practice on Thursday saw a persistent rain throughout the day and only few riders took part. Timed practices: In 350cc Mike Edwards (ACU) leader of the championship snatched the pole position followed by Guillaune Foureau (FFM) and Jean Paul Lecointe (FFM) Richard Peers Jones (ACU) and Wolfgang Voelk (DMSB) complete the top 5. In 250cc Stefan Tennstadt (DMSB) takes the pole followed by Don Gilbert (ACU) and Colin Sleigh (ACU), Mark Rogers (ACU) and Grant Boxhall (MMA) completed the top 5. European Supermono Cup and Stocksport 300 at Rijeka (Croatia)

The second raceday at Grobnik, in Croatia, started windy and cloudy weather. Supermono Cup (photo1) In race1 Austrian Josef Frauenschuh had a very good start and was battling with his compatriot Lukas Wimmer for the first place. In the first corner the Dutchman Jerry van de Bunt was fourth, but managed to pass German Johann Karl in the first lap and kept the third place for the rest of the race despite the problems he had with the clutch. After three laps the positions at the front were settled and the distance between the riders was growing lap by lap. Behind them there was a tough but fair fight among three riders on a HKR EVO 2 for the sixth position. In the end German Dennis Bayreuther managed to be the best Rookie for the fourth time. European Stocksport 300 Cup at Grobnik – Rijeka (Croatia)

This weekend the last round of European Stocksport 300 is being held at Grobnik, in Croatia. The 2017 European title has already been won by Daniel Blin, from Poland. In qualifying practice, the fastest rider was Vojtech Schwarz (photo1) followed by Lenhart Ulbel (photo2), both on Yamaha bikes and Gasper Hudovernik on KTM, who is a very young rider from Slovenia. He is taking part to a race for the first time and was very competitive from the beginning. His performance during the first race was also very awesome. After a bad start he followed the field with a big gap. During the race he showed a perfect performance. With his fastest lap, 8 tenth of seconds faster than the winner Vojtech Schwarz, he impressed spectators and officials. International Advanced Course in Motorcycling Management – Press Conference

On September 12th, at 12.00 at the Council Chamber “Giulio Marinozzi” of the University of Studies of Rome “Foro Italico”, a press conference will be held to present the International Advanced Course in Motorcycling Management, organized by the Foundation Foro Italico in collaboration with FIM Europe. The participation to the press conference is free and open to all interested. The course is a pilot project of FIM Europe with the intention of perfecting a format to make available to the European Motorcycle Federations and their respective Universities. The educational activities of the Course will be aimed at acquiring specific knowledge for the formation of a professional able to work effectively as Manager of a Motorcycle Team. Motocross of European Nations at Gdansk, in Poland

The 2017 Motocross of European Nations saw 17 teams from 16 different countries come together to race in Gdansk, Poland this weekend. Today marked the second of the 2 day event. An Opening Ceremony started the morning with FIM Europe President Dr. Wolfgang Srb, Major of Gdansk Mr. Pawel Adamowicz and Mr. Michal Sikora, Vice President of the Polish Automobile and Motorcycling Federation PZM, all welcoming the participants. After a wet Saturday the weather made a change for the better Sunday to provide great racing and at the conclusion of which it was the French Federation celebrating as their team took the MXoEN winner’s trophy while the Women of the Netherlands celebrated their Women’s Motocross of European Nations victory. Motocross of European Nations 125cc/250cc In the first race of 125cc and 250cc Ukraine’s Volodymyr Tarasov led the first 2 laps but had France’s Mathys Boisrame and Germany’s Tom Koch behind him.

European Baja Championship at Szczecin Dobra (Poland)

The European Baja Championship was held this weekend at Szczecin Dobra, in Poland. 14 riders took part to the event: 5 in the Bike class and 9 in the Quad class, in front of around 1000 spectators. In Day1 after the Special Stage the riders continued the race with 282,84 km long race day within two Special Stages (SS2 and SS3). The track was not too dusty, which might cause troubles during a race. From time to time during the day it rained, so the track was a bit muddy, too. In the Bikes Class the fastest rider was Adam Tomiczek (3h03’40’’) from Poland, 27 seconds ahead of his compatriot Maciej Giemza. Third position for Jakub Patek (3h19’19’’) from Poland, too. All of them were racing on KTM. In the Quad Class the fastest rider was Polish Arkadiusz Lindner (3h40’21’’), ahead of Andrzej Pieron (4h21’11’’). Third step of the podium for Przemyslaw
