EMX 250 European Championship: Thibault Benistat on top at the round of Lombardia The EMX250 round in Mantova saw Hutten Metaal Yamaha Racing’s Thibault Benistant have a successful end as he took a fourth consecutive overall victory in the category. As the gate dropped for the opening EMX250 race, it was Meico Vettik who got off to a flying start and was the early race leader. He was followed by Emilio Scuteri of Celestini Racing and Tom Guyon of Team VRT Nordpesca Holland. Bastian Boegh-Damm of W-Z Racing didn’t have such a good start to the race as he crashed out and seemed to be in discomfort as he hopped towards his bike. He did re-join for a couple of laps though eventually retired from the race. Meanwhile Husqvarna Junior Racing Maddii’s Mattia Guadagnini and Hutten Metaal Yamaha Racing rider Thibault Benistant didn’t get off to the best start in the race, as both were down the field, with Guadagnini 10th and Benistant 14th. EMX Quad European Championship: the Polish Roman Gwiazda is the new champion EMX Quad European Championship | Photo @Drazen Palaic The track in Mladina, Croatia, hosted the only seasonal race of the EMX Quad European Championship as the Covid-19 emergency completely change the calendar. Even if the travelling restrictions did not allow a normal competition, riders from 4 different countries (Poland, Czechia, Bulgaria and Croatia) battled it out for the European title. The first race saw the Polish star Roman Gwiazda lead from start to finish, winning ahead of Kacper Mieszkowski (Poland) and Zdenek Polaček (Czech). The second race was quite similar: once again Gwiazda took the lead from the start, while in the battle for the second position Polaček had the better on Kacper Mieszkowski. Mini Road Racing European Championship: thrilling weekend at Adria Raceway Last weekend, Adria International Raceway, Italy, hosted the Mini Moto Road Racing European Championship. The race, originally scheduled at Assen, in The Netherlands, on August 2nd has been postponed in September due to emergency situation of the Coronavirus outbreak, thanks to the big efforts of the FMI (the Italian Motorcycling Federation) and Moto Club CMV, which have welcomed this event with enthusiastic although the difficulties of the current situation. Young riders from 11 different European countries set the fight in nine different classes in a friendly atmosphere. Bajas European Championship: Tomiczek, Engeitado and Dias win the Baja TT do Pinhal Vila Velha de Rodão, in Portugal, hosted the opening round of the Bajas European Championship. Baja TT do Pinhal was characterized by 300 km of very technical special tests on a very well-marked route, with an exemplary organization by Escuderia Castelo Branco. In the bikes category the winner was the young Polish Adam Tomiczek of the Orlen Team (Husqvarna). The Portuguese Micael Simão (KTM) finished second ahead of the European champion Tiago Santos (Yamaha). Jorge Brandão (KTM) and veteran Pedro Bianchi Prata (Honda) completed the top 5. In the Quads class the Portuguese Luís Engeitado won ahead the Spanish Toni Vingut and the Czech girl Olga Rouková, all with Yamaha. Supermoto S2 European Championship and S Open European Supermoto Cup: Diego Monticelli and Mickael Amodeo takes the vicotries in S2 and S Open After a thrilling opening round three weeks ago in Castelletto, the 2nd round of the S2 and Open European Championship took place at the International Circuit of Abruzzo in Ortona. The track in the region of Abruzzo near the Adriatic Sea has very fast corners, long straight and technical off-road which makes it a challenge for not only the riders, but also for the bikes and tyres. S2/S Open Race 1 First race of the S2/Open class started on Saturday. At the start it was TM Factory Racing rider Diego Monticelli who took the holeshot into the first corner of the track, followed by Mickael Amodeo and Axel Marie-Luce on his Kawasaki. Supermoto European Championship: Pleven crowns the 2020 champions The final 2 rounds of the FIM Europe SuperMoto Championship for the SM Junior and S3, as well as the European SuperMoto Senior Cup, were held last weekend at the circuit of Dolna Mitropolia, in the city of Pleven, Bulgaria. These two rounds (from a total of 3) were of the highest importance for the riders, as in the beginning of the year, a special COVID rule was implemented in the regulations, allowing the riders to miss a whole round (due to the travel restrictions) and this would have not impacted they year’s standing. In other words, two worst results had to be subtracted for their total score, having in mind that nonparticipation is also counted as “worst” result. This time, Pleven welcomed the riders in a totally different condition as compared to the July event which was at rainy conditions –
