Third round of Supermoto S2 EC in Rijeka

The Automotodrom Grobnik in Rijeka (Croatia) hosted the fourth round of the 2012 UEM Supermoto European Championship with 28 riders competing in class S2. The Championship leader Petr Vorlicek (Suzuki) from Czech Republic was the winner of the heat one on the new venue of the supermoto european championship races. He dominated also in the practice. In the first heat he was closely followed by Austrian rider Lukas Höllbacher, difference was one second and a half. On the third spot Dutch rider Devon Vermeulen finished. In heat two no changes in the first place. Vorlicek was leading from the start and finished with gap of over 5 seconds infront of Finn Sami Salstoa in second place. Third was Höllbacher. Second round of UEM Trial EC in Santo Stefano d’Aveto

A superlative Matteo Grattarola (Gas Gas) dominated the second round of the UEM Trials Championship held at Santo Stefano d’Aveto, on the mountains behind Genova (Italy). Grattarola gained soon a smooth lead on country mate Daniele Maurino (Ossa) in the first loop, scoring 6 points against 8. The twos even improved their already low scores in the second loop, finishing the competition as a photocopy of the first round, contested three months ago. Grattarola first, Maurino second. In the third step of podium Spanish Francesc Moret (Montesa). Great hit for Italian Francesco Cabrini (Beta) in the Junior class. He won and in the standings he overtook the precedent leader, French Steven Coquelin (Gas Gas), today only in third, behind Spanish Oriol Noghera. Introduction to the 2nd round of the UEM Trial Championship

After nearly three months, the UEM Trial Championship is again on the run in the only week-end of this season where the attentions are shared with the FIM World Championship. The venue is Santo Stefano d’Aveto, on the mountains behind Genova, organised by the Moto Club Della Superba. The European riders will be on the scene on Saturday 7th for the second of six rounds, as scheduled in the series. In the top class, two Italian riders are occupying the provisional first two places: Matteo Grattarola (Gas Gas) and, behind him, Daniele Maurino (Ossa). At the moment, Grattarola is in great form, coming from two excellent performances. The victory in the Indoor held on Wednesday and a second place behind Raga at the Assoluti d’Italia disputed last Sunday. The Italian rider, if motivated like he is in this championship where he is fighting again for the crown, can be unbeatable.

Introduction to the Enduro EC round in Estonia

All quiet before the storm. After the first round in Arsie (Italy) follows a two month break before the next round on 21/22 July takes place in Pairkuse (Estonia). For the first time the Enduro European Championship is visiting the most northern country of the Baltic States, where as to now only Motocross is highly recognized. Despite this fact, riders from Estonia have been showing up in the present standings, like veteran Toivo Nikopensius, Tonu Kallast in the seniors and not forgetting Martin Leok, who at the moment stands in third place in the E2/E3 juniors. The next round will follow a week later (28/29 July) still in a Baltic, only 200 km away, in Ogre near Riga (Latvia). Report from the UEM Congress in Belgrade

The 17th UEM Congress ended yesterday the 1st of July in Belgrade. The event was perfectly organized by the Moto Association of Serbia (MSS) with the participation of delegates from 38 European National Motorcycling Federations. The meeting helped the different Commissions to analyse and understand the current situation of European championships and to asses which innovations should be planned for next year. Already scheduled in 2010 at the Porto UEM Congress, in name of a healthy alternation of roles, the German Mr Wolfgang Glas took the place of the British Mr Ted Bartlett in the position of first UEM Vice-President and of Sporting Council Chairman. The Management Council, after thanking Mr Bartlett for the great work done up to these days, assigned to him the management of the “UEM Academy” project and the temporary presidency of the Road Racing & Drag Racing Commission, following the resignation of Mr Ap Ruitenbeek.

Bajas EC round in Poland suspended due to tragic accident

The round of the Bajas European Championship, scheduled from the 29th of June to the 1st of July in Stalowa Wola (Poland), was suspended due to the tragic accident that caused the death of the Italian rider Andrea Brunod. UEM expresses its deepest condolences to the family, team and friends of the unfortunate rider.

Last round of North East EMX65 and EMX85 in Turi

The sixth and last round of the EMX65 / EMX85 in North-Eastern zone was held in Turi (Estonia). In the EMX 65 class victory of Polish rider Patryk Zdunek (KTM) in the first heat in front of Estonian Andreas Hiiemagi (KTM) and Ukrainian Mykola Moskaluk (KTM). In the second heat Hiiemagi managed to arrive first in front of Ukrainian Dmytro Chernov (KTM) and Russian Daniil Baladin (KTM). The EMX 85 class saw the dominance of Latvian rider Tomass Sileika (KTM) who won both heats. In the first race second position went to Latvian Kristers Drevinskis (KTM) and third to Estonian Hendrik Talviku (KTM). In the second heat second position went to Estonian Karl Robert Reinike (KTM) and third position to Drevinskis. The final rankings of the North Eastern zone saw the victory of Ukrainian Mykola Moskaluk (KTM) in the EMX 65 with 228 points and of Latvian Kristers Drevinskis (KTM)

Fifth round of the EMX125cc in Uddevalla

The fifth round of the 125cc 2 stroke Motocross European Championship was held today in Uddevalla (Sweden) under different weather conditions. On Saturday when the first race was held, was no rain during the races, but on Sunday heavy rain was in front of the race and during the race it rains also, but not so much. The track was in a very good condition and was drivable for all riders. In the first race Slovenian Tim Gajser (KTM) won in front of Latvian Pauls Jonass (KTM) and Swedish Anton Lundgren (KTM). In the second race it was again Tim Gajser who won the race and Pauls Jonass was again second. Third position was for Norwegian Magne Klingsheim (KTM). Superstock 600 and KTM Junior Cup in Aragon

The fifth round of the UEM 600 Superstock European Championship was held on the 30th of June 2012 at the Motorland Aragon track in Spain. It was very well organized event held together with the World Superbike Championship. The race was stopped during fifth lap due to crash of the rider No. 88 M. Marchal. The race restarted with 6 laps and victory went to Championship leader Italian Riccardo Russo (Yamaha), second Dutch Michael Van der Mark (Honda) and third Belgian Gauthier Duwelz (Yamaha). Today was held also the fourth round of the KTM European Junior CUP. The race was won by Spanish Javier Orellana, overtaking the second Austrian Lukas Wimmer just before the finish line, and at the third place was Spanish Christian Vidal. The provisional rankings see the leadership of Russo in the Superstock 600 with 106 points and of Orellana in the KTM Junior with 46 points.

Start of the 17th UEM Congress in Belgrade

The 17th UEM Congress started yesterday in Belgrade (Republic of Serbia) with the meeting of the Sporting and Non-Sporting Councils. The UEM Congress includes the meetings of the Management Council and of all the Commissions and Panels, plus the General Assembly of the 47 National Federations members of UEM. The Congress will end on Sunday the 1st of July with the Conference on Road Safety and with the meeting of the General Secretaries of the National Federations. The event sees also the participation of the FIM President, Mr Vito Ippolito, and of FIM CEO, Mr Stèphane Desprez.
