FIM-awarded SHARP program exceeded 400 helmet tests

SHARP, the Safety Helmet Assessment and Rating Programme was launched by the UK Minister of Transport in 2007 as innovative government safety scheme designed to save lives, helping motorcyclists to make a more informed choice when buying a helmet. In 2013 SHARP was awarded a Prince Michael International Road Safety Award and the FIM Road Safety Award.SHARP has now published safety ratings for five new helmets. This takes the total number of helmets that have been rated by SHARP to 401, conducting more than 13.000 high impact tests.UK Road Safety Minister Andrew Jones stated:  “We have some of the safest roads in the world but we are determined to do more to improve safety for all road users including motorcyclists. Extraordinary General Assembly of FIM Europe at Berlin (Germany)

The presidential table of the Extraordinary General Assembly  The Extraordinary General Assembly of FIM Europe was held today at Berlin, with the presence of 31 National Federations. A few changes to the Sporting Code have been discussed and decided as well as the relocation of the 2017 FIM Europe Congress, which will be held now from 28th June to 1st July in Rome (Italy). Mr Hannu Toumainen from SML was elected as member of the Judicial Panel, obtaining more votes than the candidate from AMOTOE, Mr Theodoros Rachiotis. Motocross European Championship 2017 Calendar Update

Youthstream wishes to confirm the following updates have been made to the 2017 FIM Motocross World Championship Calendar. Youthstream, the Federation of San Marino and the Government of San Marino have mutually agreed to postpone the MXGP of San Marino, which was set to take place on July 8th and 9th 2017, to 2018. The MXGP round of Italy, which was originally scheduled to take place on the 15th and 16th of April, and the MXGP round of Trentino, which was set to take place on the 24th an 25th of June, have officially swapped places on the calendar. The MXGP of Italy will now take place at the magnificent venue of Maggiora in June, while the MXGP of Trentino will be the first European round of the 2017 series and will take place at the picturesque venue of Pietramurata in April. Successful FIM Europe MXGP Academy Trainers’ Meeting in Riga (Latvia)

Last Friday November 18th 20 trainers form Latvia, Russia and Romania were present in Riga (Latvia) for education and instructions in the FIM Europe MXGP Academy certification program. The trainers followed their education, received  information and made the test for MX-B. All trainers were successful in obtaining the certificate MX-B.A new Country, which is connecting to the trainers’ platform, is Russia. No less than four new trainers are connected now and will roll out the certification program in their home Country. Besides that, Mrs. Teija Piirto from Finland was present as well to promote her project MX Safety. This program could be a great help for all trainers, who are connected to the FIM Europe MXGP Academy platform and their local clubs. European Superbike and Moto2 at Valencia (Spain)

A thrilling last day of the FIM CEV Repsol season was held at the Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo, in front of 15,000 spectators this weekend. Tetsuta Nagashima (JPN-Kalex, in photo1) achieved his first victory in the Moto2™ European Championship while Maximilian Scheib (CHI-BMW, in photo 2) said goodbye to the Superbike European Championship with a final victory. In Moto2™, Tetsuta Nagashima (JPN-Kalex) took his victory ahead of Eric Granado (BRA-Kalex) and Ricky Cardús (SPA-Transfiormers). The Japanese Ajo Motorsport rider not only achieved his first victory but he also managed to secure the overall runner-up position ahead of Alan Techer (FRA-NTS Tpro).Steven Odendaal (RSA-Kalex) took the lead right from the off, followed by Dimas Ekky (INA-Kalex), Tetsuta Nagashima, Eric Granado and Ricky Cardús, among others. FIM Europe at the European Superbike and Moto2 at Valencia (Spain)

From the left, CEV Director Oscar Gallardo and FIM Europe President Dr Wolfgang Srb today at Valencia The final of the European Superbike and Moto2 held on 19 and 20 November at the Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana at Valencia (Spain) signed the second season of the new formula of the European Championship for the classes Moto2 and Superbike. FIM Europe President Dr Wolfgang Srb and the Secretary General Alessandro Sambuco attended the event and this allowed to evaluate the sporting year and to discuss next year’s season in a meeting with the CEV Director Oscar Gallardo.
