European Moto2 and European Talent Cup at Jerez (Spain) - Day2

In the sixth round of the FIM CEV Repsol in Jerez (Spain), which was witnessed by 14,000 spectators during the weekend, Ricky Cardús (Team Stylobike) won in Moto2™ and Andreas Pérez (Reale Avintia Academy, in the photo) and Francisco Gómez (Team Larresport) were victors in the European Talent Cup. Ricky Cardús (Team Stylobike) nabbed a five-point lead in the Moto2™ European Championship by beating Eric Granado (Promoracing) in the only Moto2™ race at Jerez. The Team Stylobike rider, who had dominated the qualifying sessions, took the lead from the start and was followed by Eric Granado (Promoracing), Héctor Garzó (Team Wimu CNS), Lukas Tulovic (Forward Junior Team), Steven Odendaal (NTS Sportscode T.Pro) and Dimas Ekky (Astra Honda Racing Team). European Supermoto at Melk (Austria) – Day2

In wet and cold weather conditions on Sunday, the Wachauring in Melk was ready to start the final round of the European Supermoto Championship. The rain during the day made the highspeed racetrack in the hills of Austria even more challenging for the riders, but the experienced crew of Melk managed to prepare the track perfectly. Despite the bad weather, the spectators came to the track to enjoy the Supermoto action. TM Factory Racing rider Thomas Chareyre took the overall victory in Austria and the European Supermoto Championship title. European Superstock 1000 at Portimao – Day 1

In the Superstock 1000 European Championship on Saturday at the Prosecco DOC Portuguese Round it was Florian Marino (Pata Yamaha Official STK1000 Team) who took pole, doing so by just a +0.02s from Australian rider Mike Jones (Aruba.it Racing - Junior Team). Behind the leading pair in a tight session Roberto Tamburini (PATA Yamaha Official STK 1000 Team) was just 0.189s off pole in third place. All of the riders qualifying on the second row, meanwhile were close by in terms of times compared to Marino’s 1’44.936 pole lap. Toprak Razgatlioglu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) was fourth by just 0.226s, followed by Maximillian Schieb (Nuova M2 Racing) who was just over 0.25s from P1 and Jeremy Guarnoni (Pedercini Racing) – who trailed by just over three tenths from Marino. European Supermoto at Melk (Austria)

In cloudy and cold weather conditions the final round of the European Supermoto Championship started today with the free and timed practices at the Wachauring in Melk in the region of Lower Austria. For the high speed track with its two fast off-road sections it is the third time that they are the host of this event. The venue in Melk is one of best equipped in Europe with a great view for the spectators alongside the track. Championship leader TM Factory Racing rider Thomas Chareyre (in the photo ©BTProm) took the last pole position of the 2017 season. With his pole position the Frenchman takes a big step towards taking the double this year. In the sixth round of the FIM CEV Repsol this weekend at the Circuito de Jerez, Ricky Cardús (Team Stylobike) stamped his authority on Moto2™ by taking his second pole of the season, after losing the lead of the Moto2™ European Championship category to Eric Granado (Promoracing) in the last race at Estoril. The Team Stylobike rider managed to improve his time in the second qualifying session with a 1:43.129, squeezing the Promoracing rider off the front slot on the grid. Steven Odendaal (NTS Sportcode T.Pro) debuts on the front row, and looks increasingly in tune with his bike. Héctor Garzó (Team Wimu CNS) began the season well but failed to get onto the front row of the grid for the second consecutive time. Jacob Douglas passed away

FIM Europe sadly announces that Jacob Douglas, former President and Honorary President of the Swedish Motorcycle Federation (Svemo), passed away at the age of 91. Jacob Douglas was President of Svemo from 1977 to 2004, and was also UEM Vice President from 1996 to 2006. “For decades Jacob Douglas has been a highly respected person in Swedish Motorcycle sport”, Svemo comments . “His importance and influence in the development of the sport in Sweden were immense”. Today at the Council Chamber “Giulio Marinozzi” of the University of Studies of Rome “Foro Italico”, the International Advanced Course in Motorcycling Management, organized by the Foundation Foro Italico in collaboration with FIM Europe has been presented to a large media audience. The course is the second edition of a project of FIM Europe which kicked off last year with the intention of perfecting a format to make available to the European Motorcycle Federations and their respective Universities. On 9th September 2017 Andrzej Witkowski resigned from the post of the President of the Polish Automobile and Motorcycle Federation (PZM) and from the membership in the Board of PZM.
