FIM Europe MXGP Trainers meeting in Riga (Latvia)

Last weekend there was the 3rd trainers meeting in Riga (Latvia). This meeting was organised for the FIM Europe MX GP trainers from the North Europe (countries like Latvia, Lithuania, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia etc.) with the aim of giving to participating trainers the MX-C certificate. All 16 trainers passed the proof and can now train at their local clubs riders after an educational program with final proof. “In this traditional time of the year Riga is an important place for this training. The group is increasing with more trainers from different Federations“, stated Mr Martin de Graaff, FIM Europe Vice-President. “After the training for the A and B certificate the trainers were educated for the C level. “With this certificate they are able to work in their home country with these skills. European Moto2, Talent Cup and Kawasaki Z Cup at Valencia (Spain) – Day 2

Eric Granado (Promoracing, photo1) and Manuel González (Halcourier Racing) were declared champions of the Moto2™ European Championship and the European Talent Cup respectively in the final round of the FIM CEV Repsol season, joining fellow champions Dennis Foggia (Junior Team VR46 Riders Academy) of the Moto3™ Junior World Championship and Raul Martínez (Motorbike Moya Competition) of the European Kawasaki Z Cup. Eric Granado (Promoracing) was crowned Moto2™ EC champion, winning the last race of the season and notching up his fifth win in a row at this circuit in the FIM CEV Repsol. The Promoracing rider started from pole position with a 16-point advantage over Ricky Cardús (Team Stylobike), who was hampered by a shoulder injury aggravated by a crash in the Moto2 World Championship just a week ago. On Saturday 18th November the FIM Europe Supercross Championship, promoted by Sportainment, was held in the modern stadium of Ergo Arena in Gdansk, with the main races on Eurosport shown live. 8.000 enthusiastic spectators were presented with a spectacular show by our new Supercross promotional partner Sportainment with 55 riders from 16 different Nations competing in the 4 championship classes, SX1, SX250, SX125 and SX85. SX1 – The premier championship was decided by 2 semi-finals, 2 last chance races and the main final to decide the 12 riders who would compete for the title of European Champion and King of Poland. Semi-final 1 was a comfortable win for Cole Martinez from the USA who took the lead early on and maintained his advantage to the end. On Sunday the new Moto2™ European Championship and European Talent Cup titles will be decided. Moto2™ leader Eric Granado (Promoracing) took his second pole of the season at a circuit where he has won his last four races in the Moto2 ™ European Championship. FIM Europe at AMZS Awards

AMZS, the Automobile and Motorcycle Association of Slovenia has invited to their traditional Award Ceremony “Motosportnik leta 2017” in the Festivalna Dvorana in Ljubljana. The best Slovenian motorcycle sports athletes were present and received their well-deserved awards. Around 300 riders, families, AMZS officials, clubs, organizers and media came together in a very well organized event. Among the participants were Mr Anton Breznik, AMZS President, Mr Bogdan Gabrovec, President of the Olympic Committee of Slovenia and Dr. Boro Štrumbelj, Director General of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, as well as Dr. Wolfgang Srb, President of FIM Europe. The Slovenian Motocross star Tim Gajser, two times FIM Motocross World Champion (2015 MX2, 2016 MXGP) and one of the best riders in the world, was awarded with a special trophy as Motorsports man of the year. European Supercross at Gdansk (Poland) – Preview

For the first time ever in Poland, the European Supercross Championship in Gdansk is getting closer. This Saturday in Ergo Arena riders from 15 countries will fight for the European Champion title. Freddy Verherstraeten has already started building the track. Starting lists are almost full, but there are still free spots for riders who would like to join the competition last minute. The track will be built with over 4 000 tons of dirt, that is about 170 truckloads. As always Freddy designed a safe and challenging track, which will definitely be exciting for fans to watch, as well as for the riders to ride. The track features include impressive jumping sections along with popular whoops, which make riders face a specific challenge - a very fast, demanding and technical track. Second session of Sporting Commission Meetings in Fiumicino (Italy)

The FIM Europe Commission Meetings continued today with the second session of Sporting Commissions, which followed the first session of Sporting Commissions in October and which will be followed by the Non-Sporting Commissions next January. The meeting was held, as in the past, at the Tiber Hotel in Fiumicino, near Rome (Italy). In this second session, the meetings of Track Racing, Supermoto, Motoball and Vintage were held, with the participation of the FIM Europe President Dr Wolf­gang Srb, of Sporting Council Chairman Martin de Graaff and of FIM Europe Secretary General Alessandro Sambuco. Joining the meeting, also Armando Castagna, Director of the Track Racing Commission of FIM. Excellent results - “The second group of four Sporting Commissions attended the meet­ings in Fiumicino. FIM Europe Motocross Commission is very pleased to announce the date and venue of the 2018 edition of the Sidecarcross of European Nations together with the Quadcross of European Nations will be at Slagelse in Denmark on the 22/23 September 2018. «As usual this event is open to any FIM affiliated Federation worldwide. We already know that the Quad team USA will compete and attempt to repeat their success at this year's event held at Cingoli in Italy», stated Mr Eddie Herd, Chairman of the FIM Europe Motocross & Snowcross Commission.
