For the eight time, the best riders from Night of the Jumps flew through the sold out Olympic Hall in Munich on Saturday night. 10 riders from five nations were invited to the opening round of the FIM European FMX Championship and were lifted by the collective cheering of the 10,000 strong crowd. The list of riders was incredibly strong with the 4-time consecutive, reigning World Champion, Maikel Melero (ESP), Libor Podmol (CZE), David Rinaldo (FRA) and Remi Bizouard (FRA) as the FIM World Champions to grace the track. All riders had only one goal, and that was to beat the German FMX Wunderkind, Luc Ackermann on his home turf, after sealing the win in NIGHT of the JUMPs Berlin after landing his Double Backflip. It wouldn’t be an easy task of course, with the 20-year old German riding so much smoother and safer in 2018 despite his aggressive style.

The German, starting from pole, controlled the race right from the start and gave his rivals no option, completing a fabulous weekend in which he was the fastest in practice, qualifying, and had the best in-race lap. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Behind him, Roberto Tamburini (Berclaz Racing Team SA), whilst unable to match Reiterberger’s impressive pace, scored another second-place finish and remains just 10 points off the championship lead. Maximilian Scheib (Aprilia Racing Team), who rivalled Reiterberger at MotorLand Aragon before an untimely mechanical error at the end kicked him off the podium, returned to the top in third. Fourth, just behind him, was Federico Sandi (MOTOCORSA Racing), tying both men in the standings. Last year’s poleman Florian Marino (URBIS Yamaha Motoxracing STK Team) came in

FIM Europe Moto-Tour Assistant Training Course – Second edition in Barcelona (Spain)

IMG_1977
On proposal of the FIM Europe Touring Commission, FIM Europe launched the 2nd FIM Europe Moto-Tour Assistant Training Course, which took place in Barcelona (Spain) on the 14th April at Honda Safety Center. The event was particularly successful: it saw the attendance of 18 trainees from Greece, FYROM, Latvia, Finland and Turkey, which means that the Moto-Tour Assistant Training Course managed to attract a cross-European participation. The last edition, held two years ago, had seen the participation of 10 trainees from Greece, Lithuania, Poland and The Netherlands, which was however a good number of participants considering that it was the first initiative. “Despite untypical weather conditions for Spain, with rain and low temperatures, the group was very excited to participate at all the activities starting with theory lectures and finishing with different motorcycle riding exercises”, stated Nils Freivalds, Chairman of the FIM Europe Touring Commission. The second Moto-Tour Assistant Training

European Superstock 1000 at Aragon (Spain) - Day2

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Markus Reiterberger (alpha Racing-Van Zon-BMW, photo1) recorded his second consecutive win in the European Superstock 1000 Championship in the inaugural race of the 2018 season. After closing last year on the top step of the podium at Jerez, the new season opened with a similar picture, the German making the best of his pole position to start to cross in first place. It didn’t come easy for Reiterberger, however, with Maximilian Scheib (Aprilia Racing Team) getting past Reiterberger and controlling long stretches of the race. The Chilean was eventually overtaken by Reiterberger and nearly had his race spoiled by a technical failure, his bike momentarily coming to a near stop with just one lap to go. Scheib managed to make it to the end of the race in fourth position. Accompanying Reiterberger on the podium were Roberto Tamburini (Barclaz Racing Team SA) in second and Federico Sandi (MOTOCORSA Racing) in

The new season of the European Enduro Championship started this weekend at Fabriano (Italy), around 200 kms North-East of Rome. Day1 - The first winner in this competition was Italian Alessandro Battig (photo2). The European champion Matteo Pavoni was fighting against his countrymen Maurizio Micheluz and Alessandro Battig. Not so strong at the beginning, Pavoni increased in the last five special tests, but Micheluz and Battig were already too far ahead. This year Battig is riding a 450cc Kawasaki instead of the smaller 250cc as in the last seasons, which helped him to win the overall. Photos @Robert Pairan Micheluz was second and won the new 250-2-stroke class, while the former Junior champion Pavoni was third in the overall and won the over 250 cc 2-stroke class. Fourth position for Lorenzo Macoritto, who won the Junior class ahead of Czech Krystof Kouble, first not Italian rider. The Women’s class was
